The Melanoma Research Foundation was created to aggressively focus attention on the need to teach "prevention" or "sun protection" to children, and their caregivers. Their mission is to prevent skin cancer one child at a time through education and advocacy. They wanted to teach children simple ways that they could protect themselves from the adverse effects of excessive sunlight. The foundation has designed its programs to identify environmental factors that have contributed to the increased risk for sun damage.
Snapper Rock's financial and product support to the Melanoma Research Foundation among other initiatives will help in promoting their children's book entitled, Danger at Graves Light. The book has been endorsed by US SAILING in conjunction with the foundations SunAWARE™ at Sea Program. This program will be tailored to meet the needs of the US SAILING community to provide instruction in sun safety to its junior sailors.
